Admissions
Candidates who have passed Karnataka II PUC SCIENCE or equivalent (with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) and have secured 35% marks in individual subjects are eligible to apply. 50% seats are reserved for students outside the state. Candidates can collect the applications by paying Rs.300/= personally at Office of the Principal, Govt.Film&TV Institute, Hesaraghatta, Bangalore-88.

Fifty percent of the seats are reserved for students from the state with a 5 yr. domicile, and the other 50 percent for students from outside Karnataka with a higher fee structure. Selection process is as per the Govt. rules.
Course Fee Details
The annual admission fees as per the Govt. order is Rs 4000/= for the domicile students, and Rs.14000/= for students outside Karnataka, with an ELIGIBILITY CERTIFICATE issued by the Dept. of Technical Education.
Academic
The academic year is semester based. The odd semester begins in July and goes up to October. The Even semester is from December up to the end of March. The Institute has a good rapport with the Film Industry, and film manufacturing firms like Kodak and Fuji. Regular Workshops, Seminars and Talks are conducted. The final semester students from both the courses will have to undergo Industrial Training for 12 weeks, and one student each from Cinematography and Sound Recording will pair up to do their PROJECT DIPLOMA FILM, which will be assessed. The students are entitled for Scholarships as per the Govt. rules.
Examinations
The students have 6/7 subjects per semester.
Attendence is mandatory. They must have a minimum of 75% attendance.
At the end of each semester, the students will be evaluated based on the examinations conducted by the Board of Technical Examinations. The minimum marks for a pass in Theory is 35% and for Practicals 50%. On completion,the successful candidates will be awarded a Diploma Certificate from the Dept. of Technical Education, Govt. of Karnataka.
